Marian Garner Dadd
In 1936 she graduated from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and was married to Melvin W. Dadd of Perry, New York. He died in 1997. Prior to moving to Warren in 1995, she and her late husband resided in Bay Village, Ohio, a suburb of Cleveland, Ohio. They were active members of the Bay United Methodist Church.
She and her husband, Melvin, had many interests. They raised orchids, and many other flowers. They enjoyed photography, developed and printed their film. Marian was past president and trustee of Baycrafters, a large art organization in the western suburbs of Cleveland.
Marian and Melvin enjoyed traveling, and saw much of the world, including all fifty states. In Bay Village, Marian and her husband, Melvin, were deeply involved in the lapidary field, specializing in making stone book-ends and jewelry, for which they were well known in Ohio and beyond. Marian also worked in ivory¡ªwhale, walrus, mastodon, and elephant. She made scrimshaw jewelry.
Memorial Services are to be held at 1:30pm Saturday March the 6th in the Applegate Chapel at the United Methodist Memorial Home currently Heritage Pointe in Warren, IN with visitation starting at 12:30pm.
Surviving are two daughters, Midge Decker of Huntington and Mrs. John Shaffer (Barbara) of Stanwood, Washington, and one son, Alan (Carol) Dadd, of Flowery Brauch, Georgia. There are four grandchildren. Christopher Dadd of Herndon, Virginia, Kathleen Cahill of Alexandria, Virginia, J.R. (Terry) Decker of Indianapolis, and Bradley Decker of Olympia, Washington, and two great granddaughters, Mikaeli and Mackenzie Decker of Olympia.
