She was a member of the Kawains Club, past president of Millard Brown American Legion Post #156 Auxillary in Montpelier, past president of the Chamber of Commerce, former director of Life Stream, Montpelier Senior Citizens, Montpelier Historical Society, 1976 Sesquicentennial Celebration and was a 1939 graduate of Montpelier High School.
She married Clifford E. Schwarzkopf on November 5, 1939 in Montpelier, Indiana. Mr. Schwarzkopf preceded her in death on October 18, 1986. She was the Daughter of the late James Arthur Alfrey and the late Edith Blanche (Strait) Alfrey.
Survivors include: sons-Stephen (wife, Helen) Schwarzkopf of Owensboro, Ky. and Dee A. (wife, Carol) Schwarzkopf of Hartford City, Ind., daughter-Pamela (husband, Garry) Shroyer of Hartford City, Ind., grandsons-Brady (wife, Jessica) Shroyer of Hartford City, Ind., and Scott (wife, Tina) Schwarzkopf of Leo, Ind., granddaughters-Jill (husband, Shane) Shroyer Wilson of Columbia City, Ind., Jae Ann (husband, David) Shroyer White of New Hudson, Mich., Brandi (husband, Colby) Schwarzkopf Keirn of Roanoke, Ind. and Stephanie (husband, Brad) Schwarzkopf Butcher of Franklin, Ind., and 8 great grandchildren
She was preceded in Death by: husband-Clifford E. Schwarzkopf, father-James Arthur Alfrey, mother-Edith Blanche (Strait) Alfrey, sisters-Grace Beal and Estella Ray, brothers-Dale Alfrey and Wayne Alfrey
Arrangements are being handled by Walker & Glancy Funeral Home, 109 West Windsor Street, Montpelier, Ind., where the family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM Saturday, July 18, 2009 at the funeral home and from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM Sunday, July 19, 2009 also at the funeral home. Funeral service will be at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home at 3:00 PM Sunday, July 19, 2009 with Pastor Tom Parsons officiating. Interment will be at Brookside Memorial Park in Montpelier, Ind.

Vada M. Schwarzkopf, 89, of Montpelier, IN, passed away at 2:03 AM, on Thursday, July 16, 2009 at Millers Merry Manor in Hartford City, IN. She was born on Tuesday, February 3, 1920, in Blackford County, IN. Mrs. Schwarzkopf was the former owner and operator of Vada's Posey Room in Montpelier for many years.
